However, there are some fruits that gas-releasing fruits that should be refrigerated apart from veggies which include apples, apricots, honeydew, and cantaloupe.

Not everything should go in the fridge

It’s always a better idea to use stainless steel fridge to keep your fruits and vegetables in there.  But not everything is meant to put inside which includes onions, garlic, potatoes etc. As long as you keep them in a dark place like your pantry, or basement it will last longer than usual.

Wash green leafy vegetables properly

Greens are everything when it comes to a healthy lifestyle. Leafy greens like lettuce, chard, kale and more should be washed, dried and bound loosely in paper towels and properly placed in a pricked plastic bag in a fridge drawer.

Apart from these tips, there are some additional tips to keep your food fresh for longer periods.

  • Continuously store tomatoes at room temperature. Turn them stem-side down on your countertop and keep them out of the sun and away from the stove.
  • It’s always good to wash fresh berries in a solution of one part white vinegar and three parts water. Be certain to dry berries before storing them in a closed plastic or glass container.
  • Always keep your veggies at the bottom of the fridge where the temperature is coldest. And, remove the tops of carrots, radishes, and beets before refrigerating to help them preserve moistness.
  • Don’t stifle it. The best way to keep fruits and vegetables is to provide more air so that storing them in closed vessels or plastic bags will only make them spoil quicker. If you’re staking your veggies and fruits in a plastic bag, be sure to pick it first.
